SYSTEM OVERVIEW:
The Calix E3-2 Intelligent PON Node is a flexible and upgradable system that can be deployed cost effectively in environmentally challenged remote locations to provide PON services. Each E3-2 provides two pluggable subscriber interface modules supporting XGS-PON, GPON, and Multi-PON optics.

DEPLOY ANYWHERE
The Calix E3-2 Intelligent PON Node is a compact, self-enclosed product designed to be installed in OSP locations: strand mount, wall, pole, cabinet, or pedestal. The E3-2 is temperature-hardened and does not require active cooling, significantly reducing the total cost of ownership over a cabinet-based solution and eliminating many challenges associated with deploying a cabinet, such as land acquisition and construction permits.
DOUBLE-DENSITY REMOTE OLT
The latest E3-2 hardware enables twice the 10G PON capacity from the previous generation and consumes up to 50% less power per PON. Using the XG401 PON interface module with the RSX2001 switch module, an E3-2 supports up to 8 XGS-PON ports, each capable of servicing up to 128 customers. The E3-2 connects to the upstream network using 4x10GE or 4x25GE transport (using the XE402) or 2x100GE transport (using the CE211).
MODULAR, SERVICEABLE, UPGRADEABLE
Every module in the E3-2 can be easily and quickly removed and replaced in the field, providing complete field serviceability. This allows you to migrate your network from one PON technology to another without replacing every module, enabling a comprehensive, cost-effective and future-proof solution.
MULTIPLE POWER SOURCES
Featuring modular power supplies, the E3-2 supports multiple powering options allowing complete flexibility to support power requirements. For outside plant applications utilizing cable plant powering, the Calix E3-2 Intelligent PON Node supports coaxial square wave input from 60VAC to 90VAC. For other applications, the E3-2 supports 48VDC powering, commercial AC, and (using an external unit) +/- 190VDC span power.
XGS-PON, GPON, OR MULTI-PON
Using the XG401 module, the Calix E3-2 Intelligent PON Node delivers up to 8 PON ports that accept SFP+ optics. Each port can be independently selected to support XGS-PON, GPON, or Multi- PON. A Multi-PON optic contains a GPON laser, an XGS-PON laser, and an integrated coexistence element. Using Multi-PON optics allows a broadband service provider to simplify the transition from GPON to XGS-PON without requiring any hardware modifications to the E3-2 system.
SECURE THE NETWORK
The E3-2 integrates configurable MACsec encryption, enabling secure traffic transmission between the E3-2 uplinks and the upstream edge router or aggregation node.
